Frome 2CV
restorations are to a standard others may call a full "Rebuild".
Introduction
A Restored 2CV is fairly similar in most respects to a
Rebuilt 2CV, however there are two main differences:
- Approximately £2900.00 is spent on parts for a
restoration as opposed to around £5000.00 on a full
rebuild.
- A restored 2CV body does not get shot blasted.
Should you want to have your Restored 2CV shot blasted
this can be done for you, but will add £995.00 +VAT to
the cost of your restoration. If you would like to know
more about shot blasting please click

Stage 1
Initially your 2CV will be stripped right down and just like
on a Rebuilt 2CV.
Stage 2
All welding is then carried out and new floors, sills, inner
and outer toe boards, boot floor and windscreen surround
panel are all fitted as necessary. All visible rust will
have been removed (and metal replaced where necessary), and
key areas will be taken back to the metalwork to ensure
there is no rust under the paintwork.
Stage 3
The bodyshell is then taken to our Bodyshop and treated
and finished as follows:
- The bodyshell is turned over. A good quality zinc
primer is applied to the underside of the 2CV. We then
go on to apply a seam sealer to every seam on the 2CV
and then underseal the underside of the 2CV to give it
the best possible protection.
- We then go on to apply filler to take out any small
blemishes. We do not use filler to fill any holes or big
dents as this would lead to problems after a short
while.
- Once we are happy, we go on to apply a coat of high
quality etch primer, followed by 3 coats of high build
primer. The high build primer is then sanded down to
give a smooth base for the 3 colour coats. The paint
that we use is of a high quality and will not fade over
a few years as a lot of the cheaper paints do.
Stage 4
Whilst the above stages are taking place: the running
gear, engine and chassis are taken to our Mechanical Shop
where the chassis is replaced with a galvanised one, all of
the running gear overhauled, i.e. wheel bearings, king pins,
shock absorbers, brakes i.e. shoes, pads, discs, wheel
cyclinders are replaced as necessary. The engine and gearbox
is checked over to make sure it is in full working order and
any parts that need replacing are replaced as necessary. We
now have a restored rolling chassis awaiting its newly
painted body shell.
Stage 5
We will then fit the body to the chassis and re-assemble the
2CV to your specification, at this point we can wax oil your 2CV should you require it. As the rust will
mainly start from the inside of a panel, the cavity wax is
injected into the panels of your 2CV and helps to prevent
rust from starting within your panels. Reassembling your 2CV
will take about 70 hours, and in total the rebuild will take
approximately 320 hours and over £2900.00 in parts.
Stage 6
Once we have fully reassembled your 2CV for you, we will
have it MOTd and then test drive it before you collect it.
All restored 2CVs come with a 6 month parts and labour
warranty.

discussing your personal requirements and we will give you a
